What is consciousness?

WHAT IS CONSCIOUSNESS? Very simply, we have absolutely no idea yet. Known as one of the very complex ‘hard problems’, even me as a researcher for The Mind Voyager project will not even dare try to explain what, where, how, when etc…. If I did even try with a certain type of swagger, claiming to be advanced with scientific knowledge, then please block me from Facebook immediately, delete my website and report me!
I DO NOT KNOW WHAT CONSCIOUSNESS IS IN THE GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS, NOT EVEN CLOSE!
I like to think I’m a nice guy, never perfect but harmless and friendly. I’m not a charlatan, I do not like to play Mr Smartypants. All I can do is report on the very latest research provided by internationally acclaimed scientists and create a platform so all who read can challenge and debate ideas, learn something new and fascinating as far as can be touched by science upon this period of time. Science has made great leaps forward, exponentially so in the last 20 years or so, provided many amazing breakthroughs, however, many of the ‘hard problems’ experts of today cannot even come close to explaining why and how… Science is humble all across the board admitting that.
I do not even dare to have faith in any detailed scientific hypothesis. The very best I can do is find one or two of them intriguing and wait a number of years to see if it’s proven right or wrong through multiple testing and plenty of healthy skepticism along the way, making sure something is fact beyond any doubt… No need for bias and ego. ONLY EVIDENCE COUNTS! …. I would be an absolute disgrace if I molded my words with such posts, seemingly trying to fool the public to flow with something favorably where there is no evidence yet… I would be embarrassed to believe in one hypothesis and ridicule other competing ones that SEEM less convincing than one I leaned towards… I’m more than happy with the ‘I DON’T KNOW’ and bobble along in awe of the geniuses who are trying to make discoveries for us.
Which leads me onto religious folk…. Who are sure that the FAITH they happened to coincidentally be born into is FACT and flow with every aspect of what’s needed to please their god (not really their god, but more the surrounding people who may ridicule them if not flowing with their ideas) but fail to provide evidence beyond doubt… All customs and rituals followed religiously, and any other humble approach such as my own is either discarded with suicide bombs, torture, imprisonment at the very extreme end or, background gossip and ridicule in cute little nonviolent nations such as Cyprus for example, where those who do not conform to the popular belief system are unfortunately seen as guided by Satan and hopefully their poor souls will learn one day and see the so called ‘light’…
Believers do not dare to ask questions that may interfere with their belief (*status within the community), they flow with a swagger, sure that their version is correct, hardly any books on their shelves to at least show any effort to at least compare conflicting ideas, ask a few questions, to sure up some doubts, HARDLY ANYTHING…. Cyprus this week has a heavy flow of a sticky, dull majority who will not dare enter conversation on the topic with me, so sure they have all the answers. DO NOT DARE SUGGEST TO THEM OTHERWISE…. 🙂 A country where I would like to listen in on conversations… What do they actually talk about here if not raising questions in order to learn something new humbly on various topics in favor of playing safe?
Somehow I’m happy here, although I’ve pointed out my deep frustration, I do not let that bother me on a day to day basis… To not ask questions and challenge their faith from time to time though in polite conversation I do find that a disgrace! it’s a type of cheating, a blatant lie! Especially when they want to be acknowledged as good, humble,wholesome and intelligent people…. Here I am, comment box below… Let’s chat… My treat for coffee, cake and laughs whoever wants to meet up. My pleasure! Not the same copy/pasted conversation as always though please… We have one life… Let’s not be afraid of change, enjoy challenging ideas, it’s a lot of fun… It’s being honestly honest, not conveniently honest.
*Not all at once though, I’m busy with work too. 😉
