Neuroscience constantly exploring the brain can eventually explain things like why a limb when amputated can still be oddly felt as still existing on a daily basis by the unfortunate victim and sometimes with intense pain perceived too. The brain can create this very strange sensation in the majority of amputees, as described in the video…A ‘spiritual’ faith based believer when presented with the scientific theories explaining why will gladly accept that the complexity of brain can create such quirky perceptions….They will hear brain terms like neurons, fusiform gyrus, basal ganglia and much more, then fully accept while being impressed at the same time that the brain can fool the mind for this strange outcome…. No need to question when detailed presentations are made by acclaimed researchers….

The same ‘spiritual’ person who accepts neuroscience when observing that strangeness can hurriedly shift away from accepting brain creating mind though when presented with an explanation in a similar way for Out of Body Experiences (OBE’s) ….. Floating freely out of body is accompanied often with serene, heavenly ideas, a oneness with the universe and all things lovely, soul and /or spirit soaring with pure joy etc….. narratives that the ‘spiritual’ person can identify with deeply over time, usually connected to a specific religion too….. When presenting the complexity of brain creating mind in the same manner as Phantom limb to explain OBE though, the response will be much more defensive due to those spiritual narratives the person is connected to and therefore they may well conclude on their own accord as I’ve personally observed on a number of occasions that the brain has nothing to do with creating mind for OBE despite having the same strangeness factor as phantom limb and clear theories presented as to why… The brain and its various structures and chemicals spoiling the beautiful narrative?…. NOT ACCEPTED!

I could present 20 brain creating strange mind phenomena before the OBE presentation and all 20 will be easily accepted as brains complexity creating that mind AS LONG AS IT DOESN’T INTERFERE WITH THAT ‘UNTOUCHABLE’ SPIRITUAL NARRATIVE….That’s cheating though… You cannot pick and choose what, where, when and which evidence you like (or not)…. evidence is evidence…. Even if there is no evidence yet but just fascinating hypothesis awaiting confirmation, produced by ethical and respected neuroscientists, the shift in perception away from acceptance of neuroscience can be way too extreme and far too coincidental because of a potential clash…

Neuroscience is nowhere near understanding the brain and how it creates mind in the grand scheme of things yet, however, has made huge strides forward in the past ten years and rejection of quality theories is more about how people are selective to suit, according to their appropriate and comfort zone narratives, ignoring the potential for progress point blank if they have to in the process…. The irony is that this has nothing to do with peace, love and honesty, the very attributes spiritually faith based believers are supposedly advocating. When facts are conveniently ignored to preference convenient narrative, that’s just not good enough in 2017…
