Michael Shermer: Why people believe weird things
THE EGO – A natural process NOT TO BE CRITICIZED, that helps humanity be critical of others individually and culturally while conveniently via subconscious / conscious and continuous flow of mind chatter creates a deluded, righteous, better, stronger, faster version of oneself within any interactive circumstance.
EVERYONE, EVERY TIME, THE ACT SOFT OR HARD, THE EGO DILUTED WITHIN THE FLUIDITY OF MIND, UNOBSERVED BY THE OWNER.
A brilliantly evolved process, creating a tough outer selfish shell, an ingredient to keep all frightened and insecure as the eventual conformity byproduct becomes a highly effective magnet…. Selfish, but at the same time just right to fuel ironically a conscious desire for collective progress. I repeat that this paradox, an unobserved process. The individual owning this natural ego has no clue how it becomes puppeteer and puppet all in one within itself.
Conformity as erratic and irrational as it can be keeps collective masses together well enough to allow for continual introspection, a key process for eventual progress. Raw survival desires created by lower brain areas, a wonderful underlay for a creative, progress seeking higher brain mind.
Survival techniques continually made more efficient. The genius of being fueled by FEAR allows for a chess like, tactical attack and defense within daily living, this minimizes the potential of mass destruction, THE FEAR OF RIDICULE WITHIN IMMEDIATE CULTURAL CONFORMITY compares to the tourbillon of an elaborate, beautiful handmade Swiss watch.
To simplify and summarize, EGO IS GENIUS! Make sure you love it while hating it. There’s no gorgeous summer without a harsh winter.
