In the Republic of Congo “the Sapeurs” are devoted to dressing up in expensive designer clothes. The movement started when Congolese servicemen, who fought in France during the World War II, returned home to Africa and brought Parisian fashion back with them. The tradition lives on and sees so –called “Congo Dandies” choose couture in the chaos and crisis of poverty decades on.
