I AM NEITHER A CYPRIOT OR BRITISH!……
The most ridiculous of all narratives is that of having separate nations… Sure, all we can do is try and progress in stages as we have been shaped by past indoctrination, and change takes time, however, I really do think we should be deeply embarrassed that we still separate ourselves with borders and also have a sense of national pride but then claim to be righteous and friendly, well-meaning and peace and love…… Once we have this mind-set, identifying with the ‘us’, this in turn separates us from the ‘them’ just by creating a border and all the rules that come with it…. As accepted and as normal as this so we do not even question it, it is the most ridiculous idea ever!!! It is very simple.. Ignorance and power struggles from those past, and we didn’t figure it out to get rid of it yet?? Seriously? Sure we need rules and regulations to organise 7.4 billion people, but to maintain borders in this advanced era, confirming a ‘YOU ARE DIFFERENT TO US’ It’s racism!!! It’s ridiculous, but never ever observed like that.

Separate from what??? We are all equal. No one is perfect, we all have our biases, good points and bad. Each nation’s people want the Italian car, the Swiss watch, the Japanese technology, the Indian food, the Greek summer holiday, the African diamonds, the French Perfume, the Swedish furniture store, the English soccer, the American software and so on…. We all gladly take on a multitude of regional identities to make up our own, however…..we still want to have that separation, that border, that mindset of “We are the best and want to be better than you!!!!” ….. and “We are the gentle ones and you are the oppressors!”…..

This ridiculous idea continues… We really should be embarrassed for not even discussing this more… We all like to claim being creative and forward thinking and that we side with peace and love…. This topic hardly being discussed confirms that we don’t really care, we just fit into pockets of appropriate… We are so ignorant at times it’s unreal, shockingly embarrassing that we prefer not to be guided by reason but by faith and national pride instead, it confirms our selfish nature as a collective..

Look at the mess we create.. Cypriots see the Turks as some kind of aliens, that atmosphere swirling in the air and vice versa of unclean and mistrust… The Scots and the English, banter you would think but a recent referendum highlighting how stupidly real it got… Remember the Irish, funnier still as we get the supposedly all peace loving Christian religion involved too…Catholics and Protestants HATING and KILLING each other, it’s laughable… India and Pakistan, like kids in the playground arguing at ‘this belongs to me and not you’ bla bla…. WHY DON’T YOU SHARE??? Why do you have to have the biggest or the best piece? Why not gladly offer it to your brothers and sisters instead? A good and giving personality always opens up to receiving the same in return. If receiving nothing in return, so what? It’s their loss for being so blind at how beautiful altruism is.

Embarrassing!!!! Seriously, all of us for not even discussing this topic seriously yet in 2016.
